This is the start of the Lycian Civil war.
Charles Pendragon, Lord of Ostia, walked into his audience chamber late. He always liked to make the lesser lords wait. He always relished a chance to make the greater lords wait. The lords were assembled around a large circular table. A lords bannermen to his left. Each house major and minor was permitted to bring their honor guard with them into the chamber. Achaia was the only unit of more than twenty.
Pendragon: Hello gentlemen, I apologize for my absence, but Lord Sanegoon has the floor, if you'd all direct your attention to him, we could get this meeting underway.
Furth Sanegoon stood as Pendragon sat. He was a tall devilishly thin man who kept to himself on practically everything. He was dangerous, as his host was near the size of Pendragon's own.
Sanegoon: Hello lords. We are in a very trying time. As we are all aware, Illia has taken over a large percentage of Sacae. I believe the Frostbitten bastards, are simply using the plains as a vantage point to attack Bern. One of my spies, just sent word of a mass amount of ships leaving ports in Illia. Colonization is possible considering the fertile lands of Sacae against the Tundra of Illia. However the amount of arms and trained soldiers on the boat is unlikely for colonization. What happens when Illia takes over a country and a half? They will go down from Bern to Lycia. Don't believe they attempt conquest? My spies have also told me of small units of Illian soldiers worming their way into Etruria, I believe we must all lend our strength against Illia, in order to survive. Thank you.
Robbert Patstone stood immediately calling the floor for him, there had been a few snickers while Sanegoon spoke, Lord Charles assumed they'd come from the young lord of Santaruz.
Patstone: Well these are all very nice theories. How do you keep your spies loyal? Gold (the young man fished through his robe pockets and let several gold coins run through his fingers flipping one towards Sanegoon)? Gold is an abundance of Illia. One lazy governor could buy off your spies. I say if any of this was true, we ally with Illia. While disorganized, the way of Illia is war. They're likely to bust through Etruria despite the lack of numbers. Bern may be a different story. But if we ally ourselves with the west, then we'll quickly be backed into a corner for a blizzard to close in on us. Or we can become the other talon of an eagle.
Many of the Santaruz bannermen cheered, lord of Cnossus the Giant Balon Murmain banged his fist for approval. Then ever loud Lord Hoster Foremont of Caelin stood to make his peace. Fat and happy the man had more sons than any man in All of Lycia, most of the bastards.
Foremont: Hello men. Some of you would be less than that if you're afraid of being backed into a bloody corner! The gaping whole between you legs may be afraid of being filled with an Illian blade, but if your still warriors, then you'd realize what is righteous. Sacaens are tribes! They aren't a people to take down as a nation! That's what Illia did either for greed or for some slight given them by a Kutholay or Deyjew. Well I say we join Bern and Etruria!
Derkelis Survant was a long time friend and ally to Foremont. He was the brains of the alliance between Caelin and Achaia. He smied at his friends misproununciation of the Sacaen tribe names. Pendragon knew he wouldn't back his man just yet til he heard Pendragons opinion, so that he could disagree.
Which is why Pendragon stood to say his statement.
Pendragon: If you believe the strength of Lycia should join Illia, stand with me.
Patstone was the first to stand, with his bannermen. Then James Frey of Laus, his bannermen also following suit. Lord of Araphen Xander Colbert reluctantly stood with his bannermen showing approval. All but one. All but Tumorin Martel. The ancient lord of Cornwell kept his seat. Noone seemed to think anything of it, he was old maybe he couldn't rise by himself.
That was almost immediately proven wrong.
Sanegoon: All for joining Bern or Etruria?
Sanegoon rose with his bannermen, as did Foremont, and Survant looking directly into Lord Ostia's eyes. Slowly Martel rose, over the shouts of the other bannermen of Colbert.
Sanegoon: Well, I have made my purpose for being here, and I waited three days for you to see us all at once. I'll leave to go and make my people know of the plight of the Land of Elibe. God day.
He led his bannermen out of the room. Foremont and Survant soon followed. When all supporters of Bern had left, but Cornwells lord. Pendragon made a decision.
Pendragon: Guards, kill the men of Cornwell.
Not only did Ostian Knights fall upon the guards, so did all the others. The lord of Cornwell himself had his head taken off.
Pendragon: Captain Pycelle, take this traitors head to the catapult, see if it can't land in front of Lord Sanegoon.
When his captain had left, Pendragon made yet another decision.
Pendragon: Well I'm the only one here with experience in a true war (he'd fought his older brother for the throne of Ostia) I'll lead our troops, gather your men, first we take Achaia.

Later that day a small projectile landed a few feet behind the Lord of Pherae. When he saw the poor old mans face the message was clear. Lycia was at war.
