The snow whipped Flocon's face. Helikaeon snickered behind him. Flocon turned his back on the torrent off the rocky cliff. The Pegasus eyed him suspiciously, he still didn't trust the tall boy. He was shifty. Flocon's hair whipped his face in the wind, but he crossed his arms and asked, "What? I've ridden four pegasi, your the only one who's given me any problems." The winged horse snickered again, and walked forward slowly.
Flocon swung his leg over the saddle. The horse grunted at the added weight. They took off through the sky. Flocon twisted then whipped the reins, and the Pegasus responded. The horse spun upside down, and Flocon smiled. The horse spun back, and Flocon whooped.

Helikaeon touched down lightly next to the frozen river. This close to Illia, Etruria was still a bit cold. At the moment, a bit cold meant the fourth day in a massive blizzard. The unit Flocon had joined was called The Point. They flew white banners, which confused Con. The Illian council had once declared that no Mercenary troupe could fly white banners, but if Illia was ever forced to rally to war, the banners would all change to ice white. Meaning white company banners would signal an Illian act of war. Flocon wasn't stupid, he knew people in at least Sacae hated Illia now, and his father'd received an Ostian messenger, telling the tale of a war in Lycia, caused by Illian settlers in the plains. An act of war against the Titan that was Illia... Flocon hoped he could pray to a priest here while he "Handled Business."
For all he knew they were coming to quell a rebellion, or hunt bandits. There sure seemed to be a lot of Etrurian rebellions, but for some reason Flocon felt that wasn't what he was here for. So far he'd only scouted, and he doubted they'd be forced to fight soon. The only life around had been a monastery, and a small town twenty miles south. Flocon thought of how killing either would be awful as he approached commander Oddr. The man had several cliff and mountains marked on a map in front of him, with a parasol above to keep the snow off as best it could. Flocon waited to be adressed. Eventually, Oddr looked up at Flocon, but then he looked down again for another eternity. "Report Private." It was somehow a question and statement.
Flocon snapped to attention, "Yes sir commander! I flew to the southwest cliff as ordered sir, and there seemed to be an endless abyss at the bottom of it." Oddr looked up to another officer, and smiled. They'd found what they were looking for.

Flocon waited to be dismissed with the other Pegasus Knights in the troupe. Counting him there where eight soldiers, and a ninth for Commander Oddr if he decided he would be riding his large mount through the skies in a battle. Flocon had not seen the man in battle yet, but as they had flown here above their comrades marching through the snow, Con saw the ease at which the man sat his giant horse. It would be interesting to see him fight. They were awaiting orders to go and inspect the abyss Flocon had found, they would scout ahead, and see what they could find.
Then Oddr walked by. He was a thin yet well muscled man with a big nose. he said, "Lieutenant Deacon, you will lead these soldiers, you will take thirty minutes then report back immediately, where we will be marching toward your position. Understand?" The woman stood at attention, "Sir, yes sir!" She looked at Con and flung her head to signal he was to lead the way. The young man mounted Helikaeon, and kicked his right leg back. The horse rose into the sky with one beat of it's gargantuan wings. Flocon turned him towards the abyss they'd only returned from minutes ago, and led his comrades to the place it seemed only he missed the significance of.
